GLOBAL ROLE FINDERJOB MARKET ANALYSIS

140 SENIOR SEATS ACROSS 29 COMPANIES, THIS MORNING

THE VENDOR MARKET
IS NARROWING,
AND THAT CHANGES WHERE YOU AIM.

Monday 26 October 2026

Good Monday. Here is the senior media market as it stands this morning, and underneath it every role we found, by region, with the link on each one. 140 senior seats, director level and above, across 29 companies. Two in five of the media companies we looked at this week are hiring at that level, and the shape of who is hiring has shifted in a way that matters if you are planning your next move.

Global Role Finder, 26 October, with Chris Redmond

What We Think Is Actually Happening

Three things, with the evidence attached

The vendor layer is not thawing, it is narrowing, and that changes where you aim.

Vendor and media technology roles went up this week, 33 against 26. But look at where they are. Deltatre has 13 and Dolby has 10, so two companies are seven in ten of the vendor market this week. Deltatre's 13 is five distinct roles across five countries, which is worth knowing before you read the number. Then Amagi with 3, NPAW with 2, and one each at 3 Screen Solutions, castLabs, EVS, Arqiva and Bitmovin. A handful of vendors are hiring harder and most of the rest are sitting still, so this is a specialist market at the moment rather than a platform one. Go narrow and go direct.

Ad tech and measurement is the warmest part of this industry, three weeks running.

Six of the seven ad tech and measurement businesses in this week's count are hiring at senior level, and the roles went from 23 to 28. Samba TV alone has 13, Nielsen and Gracenote 7, iSpot 3, Comscore 3, Innovid and VideoAmp one each. The direction is solid, and one company carries a lot of it.

Product and engineering is pulling away from commercial, and it is where seats get stuck.

52 product and engineering seats against 39 commercial. Last week the gap was five, and a fortnight ago commercial was ahead. More to the point, 25 of those 52 were already open a fortnight ago, which is 48 per cent. Commercial is 16 of 39, so it moves a little faster. If you are an engineering or product leader, the companies looking for you have been looking a while, and that is leverage sitting on your side of the table.

What This Means If You Are Looking

Find your corner

If you are in product or engineering

This is the strongest part of the market and the one with the most leverage in it. 52 seats, and 25 of them have been advertised a fortnight or more. Those companies have been looking a while and they have not found you yet, so go in asking for more than you were planning to ask for.

If you are commercial

39 seats, and 16 of them are still open from last week. That is 41 per cent against product and engineering's 48, so commercial moves a little faster. If one is right, move on it this week rather than next.

If you are in content and programming

It is thin and it moves. 7 seats, 2 of them carried over from last Monday. Set an alert and be first rather than best prepared.

If you are at a broadcaster or a studio

36 seats, with Disney on 12 and Comcast on 10.

If you are a vendor or media tech person

The doors are narrower than the headline suggests. 33 seats, 23 of them at Deltatre and Dolby. Beyond those two, very few vendors are hiring at this level right now. Go narrow and go direct.

If you are in ad tech or measurement

You are in the healthiest corner of this industry right now. 28 seats, with Samba TV, Nielsen and Gracenote leading.

The OTTRED Senior Hiring Index

41.4%

If you are new to this, the number is simpler than it looks. It is the share of the media companies we looked at this week that have at least one role open at director level or above. This week it is 41.4 per cent, so roughly two in five.

Across ten Mondays it has read 43.4, 60.0, 41.2, 48.6, 47.1, 48.6, 48.4, 48.3, 47.6 and 41.4. It has dipped this week, and it is a number worth watching over ten weeks rather than one. Since September it has sat between 41 and 49.

What it ignores on purpose is size. A company with thirteen open seats counts the same as a company with one. So it tells you how widely this industry is hiring, not how deeply. Depth is what the list at the bottom is for.

Still Looking

Senior seats on the board last Monday and still on it this morning

There are 59 of them. Ten are below and all 59 are in the full list further down, in their usual places.

We have no interest in making any company look like it is struggling, and the point is the opposite. A role that stays open is usually a role where somebody with the right background has real room to negotiate.

59 of this week's 140 roles have been live for a fortnight or more, 42.1 per cent, down from 55.6 last week. Deltatre has 13 of them, Netflix 8, Nielsen and Gracenote 7, Tubi 6.

The seats nobody has filled, 59 of 140 open last Monday too
59 of this week's 140 roles were open last Monday too. Product and engineering seats stick most, 25 of 52. If that is your background, the people looking for you have been looking a while.

Three Tips If You Are Applying This Week

Before you spend an evening on the application

Innovid is hiring, so do not rely on the aggregators alone

Innovid has a Senior Director of Product, Creative open in New York, and it is in the list below. It has not shown up well on the usual job sites, which is a good reminder to check a company's own careers page as well.

For iSpot, apply through its own careers page

Several of the iSpot listings circulating on job sites are out of date, and at least one VP seat out there has already closed.

Open any NBCUniversal role before you spend an evening on the application

Its listings do not always show when a role has closed, so check the posting is still live first.

What Has Changed Since Last Monday

The point of doing this every week is the direction

Streaming has cooled for a third week

Senior streaming seats have gone 57, then 48, and 42 this morning. Three consecutive weeks in the same direction is a trend rather than a wobble, and we would now read it as one.

Product and engineering has held the top for a second week

It has widened the gap on commercial, five roles to thirteen. A fortnight ago commercial was ahead. At thirteen it is worth paying attention to.

Deltatre is carrying thirteen senior seats for the third week running

And NPAW's two sales director seats are open for a fourth. Those doors are standing wide.

Where This Started, And Where It Is Now

Ten Mondays on

The first one of these went out on 24 August. We found 80 senior roles that morning, and the post was a shortlist, eight or ten of the best ones with a warm note on top.

That lasted exactly one edition. The feedback came back fast and it was right. Nobody needed a tasteful selection made on their behalf. People wanted the whole market, mapped, with the link on every role, so they could decide for themselves what was worth their time. So we binned the shortlist and we have published all of it every Monday since.

Ten Mondays on, we can tell you not just what is open but how long it has been open. That is where the real leverage sits, and it is why the Still Looking section exists.

What We Are Trying To Build

A complete and honest weekly record of the senior end of this industry

Free, for the people working in it. A job board shows you what has been advertised at you. This is meant to do something different. The whole market at once, in one place, grouped by region, with the base rate sitting next to it, so you can see where you actually stand rather than how any one vacancy happens to make you feel that week.

The part that gets better with age is the trend. Ten Mondays in and we can already tell you which parts of this industry are warming and which have been flat since August. Give it a year and we will be able to tell you what a normal October looks like.

The promise underneath it does not change. Every role we can stand behind, every week, with the link on it. Free, and complete, and as straight with you as we know how to be.

If You Want This Made Personal

This post is the market for everybody

Some people want the same thing written for one person, which is them. Here is what that looks like.

The Career Blueprint

It does something you cannot really do for yourself. We look back at everything your career has built and remodel you as the new product you have inevitably become, then work out the narrative around that product and who you should be taking it to. It starts with a conversation and becomes a bespoke document of around forty pages, written about you and nobody else, in three parts: who you are, where you belong, and how you go to market.

You get a narrated podcast of it, so you can listen to your own story on a drive. You get your personality profile in plain language. And you get the Blueprint Quest, which turns the ninety day plan into something you actually track rather than something that sits in a folder.

OTTRED members get 50 per cent off, and membership is free.

SEE THE CAREER BLUEPRINT

Blueprint Wingman

This is the one that belongs next to this report. A blueprint is a photograph of you on the day it is written, and the market moves every week, as the top of this post shows. So for people who have had one, every fortnight you get a personal letter, written to you and nobody else. It tells you what has actually moved in the market for roles like yours, filtered through your own targets and your own green and red flags. It gives you one coaching note straight out of your own blueprint. It points you at the events worth being at. And it asks you one question, and your answer shapes the next letter, so it moves as you move.

While you are on the market, Wingman also gives you a confidential seat on the OTTRED Dream Team, our anonymised showcase of exceptional leaders that we put in front of the people doing the hiring. Your name never appears, nothing goes anywhere without your say so on what and to whom, and your blueprint stays yours.

And if none of that is for you, that is completely fine. The list above is free and it stays free, and it will be here next Monday either way.

How We Do This, Briefly

Read from public job boards, this morning

We read public job boards. A role only appears above if we opened it today and it was live when we did. Anything we could only infer is not in the list.

One thing worth knowing before you apply. A few of the entries link to the company's careers page rather than to the posting itself, because those boards do not give every role a fixed address. For those, search the title on the company's own careers page and apply there.

Why We Do This

So the people in this community can see the whole market and move first

We do this for OTTRED members. Every Monday we map the senior end of this industry so the people in this community can see the whole market in one place, spot the seats that matter to them and move first. It is part of what membership is for, and it stays free. If one of these roles is right for you, apply directly to the company and go well.

What we are trying to build as a firm is a separate thing, and we would rather say it plainly than dress it up. We want RedHolt to be the most distinguished headhunting firm in the world for senior media roles, on both sides of this industry, the consumer facing businesses and the vendors who supply them. That is a standard we hold ourselves to on every search we run.

If you know of a senior role that belongs on this list, add it below. It is better when it comes from all of us.

Best of luck. Chris, and the whole OTTRED community.
