A NEW OTTRED PARTNERSHIP

OTTRED X VIDEO STREAM STACK
OTTRED has partnered with Video Stream Stack to bring the OTT Streaming Fundamentals Program directly to our community, self paced courses and hands on labs that take you from adaptive streaming basics to production grade HLS and MPEG-DASH implementation.
WHY THIS PROGRAM
Technical depth, taught the way engineers actually learn.
This isn't a marketing course about streaming. It's a engineering program built for the people who design, build and debug OTT systems — and it's now available directly through OTTRED.
Built by practitioners, not academics
Every course is written and taught by Clement Duval, a technical trainer with nearly 20 years of experience as Advanced Support Engineer and Technical Training Director for Ateme. Holding CCIE Routing & Switching and Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) certifications, he masters both the video content and the complex infrastructure it travels through. You learn from someone who has debugged real playback failures, optimized real encoding pipelines and shipped real manifests, not someone who read about it in a textbook.
Real manifests, not toy examples
The hands on labs use live, real world HLS and MPEG DASH manifests from production streaming platforms. You inspect, parse and debug the same structures you'll encounter on the job, so the knowledge transfers directly.
Self-paced, available 24/7
Every course is self paced with no scheduled sessions. Buy a course, get instant access, and work through it on your own time. Labs are available 24/7 once purchased, so you can practice when it suits you.
Certificates and interactive quizzes
Each course includes interactive quizzes to check your understanding and a personalized certificate of completion you can share on LinkedIn or with your employer.
THE INSTRUCTOR
Built by the people who operate streaming platforms.
Video Stream Stack is an online training platform built for the engineers, developers and architects who design and run OTT streaming systems. Its OTT Streaming Fundamentals Program takes students from the core principles of adaptive streaming through to production grade implementation of HLS and MPEG DASH with CMAF, using real world, live manifests rather than theory alone.
Through this partnership, OTTRED members and anyone in our community can now access these courses directly through our platform. Every course includes interactive quizzes, a personalized certificate of completion, and the option to add hands on labs that use real, live manifests from production streaming platforms. It is the technical depth our members have been asking for, delivered by practitioners who build this infrastructure every day.
The program is taught by Clement Duval, a technical trainer with nearly 20 years of experience as Advanced Support Engineer and Technical Training Director for Ateme. Holding CCIE Routing & Switching and Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) certifications, he masters both the video content and the complex infrastructure it travels through. Clement specializes in bridging the gap between video standards and real world deployments, and has trained global engineering teams through hands on labs. He created Video Stream Stack to give engineers the practical skills needed to manage modern streaming with confidence.

THE PROGRAM
OTT Streaming Fundamentals
24 hours across 6 courses and 5 hands-on labs, structured in three parts. Each part builds on the last — you can take the full program in order, or jump straight to the course you need.
Before you touch a single tool, you need to understand why OTT works the way it does — the protocol choices, the architecture and the trade offs that shaped modern streaming. Skip this and everything else is memorisation, not understanding.
Adaptive Streaming Principles
Encoding, HTTP and container formats are the three technologies every streaming system is built on. This part takes you inside each one — how frames are compressed, how HTTP carries segments, and how CMAF made modern adaptive streaming possible.
Video Encoding for OTT
HTTP for OTT
CMAF & Fragmented MP4
Theory becomes practice. You'll work through real HLS and MPEG DASH manifests, understand how players switch bitrates, and leave with the knowledge to debug and build production grade streaming systems.

THE COURSES
Pick a course, and a hands on lab
Each course is self paced and includes interactive quizzes and a personalized certificate of completion. Most courses pair with an optional hands on lab for practical reinforcement using real world, live manifests. Expand any card to see exactly what's covered.
OTT Foundations: Adaptive Streaming Principles
The theory that everything else in this program builds on — why OTT works the way it does, and why HTTP won. If you're new to streaming or coming from broadcast, this is where you start.
Video Encoding for OTT
How raw video becomes a compact, streamable bitstream — the frame types, GoP structures and fragment boundaries every OTT engineer needs to reason about. You'll understand why encoders make the choices they do, and how those choices ripple through every downstream system.
Guided exercises working with real encoded streams, analyzing frame types and GoP structures using industry standard tools.
HTTP for OTT
Every OTT stream rides on HTTP. Learn to read the wire — requests, responses, auth and load balancing — the way a streaming engineer debugs a broken playback session. By the end you'll be able to trace a segment download from client to origin and understand every header along the way.
Hands-on packet analysis with Wireshark — inspect real HTTP sessions, trace segment downloads and debug playback issues from the wire up.
CMAF & Fragmented MP4
Inside the container format that made modern adaptive streaming possible. You'll go box by box through fragmented MP4 structures — from MOOV to MOOF to MDAT — and understand exactly how segments are built, indexed and timed.
Parse real fragmented MP4 files box by box, inspect MOOF/MDAT structures and understand fragment timing hands on using a hex editor and parser tools.
HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) with CMAF
The most widely deployed OTT protocol, from master playlist to adaptive bitrate logic — implemented on real, live manifests. You'll understand every tag in an HLS manifest and how players use them to switch bitrates in real time.
Work with live HLS manifests, analyze master and variant playlists, and trace adaptive bitrate switching in real time using HLS.js and browser debuggers.
MPEG DASH with CMAF
DASH's implicit addressing model, MPD structure and synchronization — and how it compares to HLS in practice. You'll understand why DASH is considered more efficient, and when you'd choose one protocol over the other.
Parse real MPD files, understand segment templates and synchronization, and compare DASH addressing models to HLS using live manifests.
