SYNAMEDIA PRESS RELEASE · 2 JUNE 2026

Synamedia Launches Its Next Chapter

Synamedia has formally launched what it is calling its next chapter: an integrated portfolio strategy built around helping operators win back audiences in the attention economy. The company is consolidating its focus on Go, Senza, Iris, ContentArmor, and Gravity.

LUMINE GROUP PRESS RELEASE · 2 JUNE 2026

Lumine Group to Acquire Synamedia's Video Network Business

Toronto-listed Lumine Group (TSXV: LMN) has entered into an agreement to acquire Synamedia's Video Network business. This marks Lumine's 16th corporate carve-out transaction. The acquired business will operate independently under its primary product name: Quortex.

WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED

One company becomes
two focused businesses.

The headline is simple: Synamedia is splitting into two distinct entities, each with a sharper strategic mandate. The part of the business focused on video processing, broadcast delivery, and live streaming, operating under the Quortex brand, is being acquired by Lumine Group. The core consumer and operator-facing business, including Synamedia Go, Senza, Iris, ContentArmor, and Gravity, remains under the Synamedia banner and is being accelerated.

This is not a retreat. It is a focus move. Synamedia CEO Paul Segre framed it clearly: this creates two distinct businesses with clear strategic direction and strong category positioning, allowing both to move faster and innovate more effectively.

"This will create two distinct businesses with clear strategic direction and strong category positioning, allowing both to move faster, innovate more effectively and deepen the value they deliver to customers around the world."

Paul Segre, CEO, Synamedia

The acquisition is anticipated to close in the near future, subject to customary closing conditions and applicable employee consultation processes.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR THE INDUSTRY

Synamedia Go is not going
anywhere. It is accelerating.

The most important takeaway from this restructure is what it signals about the direction of the industry. Synamedia is not retreating, it is making a deliberate strategic bet, choosing to go deeper on OTT experience, audience engagement, and monetisation rather than spreading across the full technology stack. When a company with 30 years of video industry history makes a move this decisive, it tells you something about where the market is heading.

Synamedia is now laser-focused on building next-generation streaming experiences that compete for attention on mobile and the big screen. The decision to separate the Video Network business into a standalone Quortex entity is precisely what makes that focus possible. Two businesses, each with a cleaner mandate, each able to move faster.

Synamedia Go is being expanded with GO Smart and GO Shorts, bringing machine learning personalisation and short-form content experiences built to engage the next generation of viewers. This is where the industry is heading. And Synamedia Go is right at the front of it.

CONTEXT · WHO IS LUMINE GROUP?

Quortex finds a permanent home
in the Lumine ecosystem

Lumine Group is not a traditional private equity buyer. They describe themselves as a buy-and-hold forever acquirer of communications and media software businesses. Their model is to acquire, strengthen, and grow, with a consistent strategy of decentralisation, meaning acquired businesses operate independently rather than being absorbed.

Consistent with Lumine's decentralisation strategy, Quortex will operate independently under its own brand. Lumine's COO Tony Garcia confirmed the business will focus on video processing, broadcast delivery, and live streaming, areas where Quortex already has deep specialist credibility. Customers include broadcasters, media companies, telcos, and streamers globally. For the OTT supply chain, this means the Quortex technology stack that many in our community depend on remains intact and independently resourced.

WHAT TO WATCH NEXT

Three things the OTTRED
community should follow closely

01 · CLOSE

When does the Lumine acquisition complete?

The deal is subject to customary closing conditions and applicable employee consultation processes. No firm date has been confirmed. Watch for the closing announcement, which will formally establish Quortex as an independent Lumine portfolio company.

02 · PRODUCT

How quickly does Synamedia Go evolve?

GO Smart and GO Shorts signal that Synamedia is moving aggressively into machine learning-powered personalisation and short-form content. For OTT operators and platform builders in this community, watch how these capabilities land with early deployments.

03 · MARKET

What does this tell us about the video software landscape?

The split reflects a wider truth: the video technology market is becoming too broad for any single business to dominate. Specialisation is winning. Expect more moves like this across the industry as players choose depth over breadth in a fiercely competitive attention economy.
